COP is the cornerstone for the complete EC, ECE and NTA type approval process. It should ensure that all products of a type are in compliance with type approval specifications and so meet the legislation requirements.
COP clearance must be given before a type approval authority can issue type approvals. RDW has its own Certification Unit which will help you with COP clearance. As a manufacturer you can apply using the COP application procedure. There is a list of all required information in the application. Please make sure all relevant COP information is part of your application. Your Technical Service can help you with this.
As proof for COP clearance, the RDW will issue a Compliance Statement with an expiry date. Before the expiry date, the manufacturer must contact the RDW Certification Unit. For changes in your application data or Compliance Statement you can use the COP application form.
In the brochure you will find specific information about the requirements, assessment and procedures of the RDW.Detailed information is contained in the specific EC Directives and ECE regulations.
For manufacturers with a Whole Vehicle Type Approval, the RDW requires an overview (2/3 wheeled; 4 wheeled or Agricultural) with control plans for all separate Directives.
For component manufacturers we would like to receive a questionnaire, filled out for each Directive and/or Regulation (if not equivalent).
