As manufacturer of
vehicles
or
components
for the automotive industry you must have
EC, ECE or national type approvals
to register and sell your products throughout
EU
and/or
UN
signatories. Third member countries accept sometimes these type approvals also.
The RDW is the type approval authority for the Netherlands, assigned by the Dutch Ministry of Transport since 1949.
For the Netherlands, the RDW is also the organisation which handles the registration of vehicles and supervises Recall
actions.
Therefore our mission is to be your "professional and reliable partner for the complete vehicle chain".
Because we take an independent position, are a non-profit organisation and make our expertise available at an early stage, we build bridges between all parties in the vehicle chain.
A complete approach to homologation testing and certification
With all the skills available, we can perform tests, advise you on all necessary papers and issue the type approval required.
Depending on your needs for Component and/or Technical Unit
or System and/or Whole vehicle type approvals
we will guide you through the entire approval process
.
Tests can be performed at our Test Centre Lelystad,
witnessed at your premises by our Test Unit
or performed by accredited Technical Services
. For this, we work in close cooperation with several Technical Services throughout the world.
This approach also includes assessment and supervision of your production process
, so-called Initial assessment (IA) and Conformity of Production (COP).
As the RDW also participates, under the responsibility of the Dutch Government, in the development of national and international legislation
, we keep a close eye on technical developments and we are able to influence legislation and its interpretation.
